Meet Allison Ries, Project Assistant

Hello, I’m Allison.

I enjoy working within challenging environments where strong process improvement and project management skills can be applied … okay, but what does that really mean?  Some weeks it’s hard to say as this can really change from day-to-day, which requires that I stay on my toes and keep that varied skill set in shape!  It means being able to pull from a varied knowledge base and apply it to real-world solutions where and when projects need it, it means taking the initiative to find that solution and apply it.

My diverse background has equated to extensive experience in the field of internal and external strategic communications, integrated marketing communications planning, public relations, branding, technical writing, copywriting and editing, external website and internal portal content development, research and analysis, spearheading projects, analytics and reporting, quality assurance methodologies, training development and execution … whew, I think this may be the result of the demands of the field of marketing communications and the necessity to quickly understand multiple environments!

I enjoy my role with SSC as it gives me the chance to take this varied experience and apply it to a wide array of projects while managing timelines and deliverables … which SSC is no stranger to!  I am really looking forward to expanding my knowledge further and learning more about the sustainability industry by working closely with Jennifer and Tracy.

What else? In my spare time, I love to stay involved in the arts. I love to paint and come up with other creative ways to express myself.  I would, by no means, call myself an artist but it is something I love to do that brings me great “stillness” in a very busy world while keeping me challenged as well. I am always pushing myself in the arts, and I’m never quite happy enough with what comes about … which is a good thing, right?  What better way to keep improving than by our own inclinations.

Hmmm, I may be getting a tad off topic now.  But I hope you feel that you’ve started to get to know me and I look forward to the opportunity to get to know you through a current or future SSC project!  Here is my more formal bio if you’d like to take a look.
