OPINION: Greening your Rally

Attending the Rally to Restore Sanity this weekend?  Here are some tips to keep your Rally’s footprint sane:

  • Getting there- If you’re traveling from outside the DC area, there are a number of convenient public transportation options.  These include AMTRAK, MARC, VRE, and many buses.  Most of these options bring you right to a metro stop.  See the Rally’s website for a complete listing of the accessible stops and buses.  Another noteworthy item- if you’re driving, you can park your car at a suburban metro using your SmartTrip, and then take the metro into the city.
  • Come prepared- Rather than hitting up the vendors for water bottles and snacks, bring a reusable bottle (there are fountains on the mall), and pack your own food in a reusable container.  For a full list of allowed items, refer to the Rally’s FAQ page.

All of the proceeds from the merchandise you can buy at the Rally will go to the preservation of the National Mall.  Campaign buttons not really your thing?  You can donate directly without making a purchase.
