Jennifer Woofter recently chatted with Josh Sustridge of Sustridge Sustainability Consulting on his podcast Sustainable Nation.
As we all get settled in our professional bubbles and industry jargon, we constantly need reminders to remember that someone organization is out there there taking its first steps into sustainable business practices, and the leadership team is likely skeptical, hesitant, feeling left behind, a little bit intimidated, and a probably a lot overwhelmed by what it might mean to “go green.”
For my clients, “that intersection and complexity of [what it means to “live sustainably” is] what each of us individually face every day, but I think also it is what organizations are looking at, ‘How do we make choices and how do we prioritize choices without having to quit doing everything unsustainable tomorrow?’ It’s a very intersectional and complex issue,” Jennifer said.
Jennifer takes this opportunity, as a consultant helping small to medium sized organizations untangle the complex web of sustainability strategy, to talk to Josh about what sustainability really means and how to be mindful, inclusive, and positive about how we encourage organizations to “go green” with us.
“The question is how do we transition [to a sustainable economy], how fast we transition, and what does that transition look like in a way that is just and equitable and that keeps society going in the interim. And that is a really interesting area,” Jennifer added.
