Case Studies from SSC's Work with Walmart Suppliers
We've worked with a variety of Walmart suppliers over the past three years. On this page, you can read about some of the different projects we've undertaken to help clients meet and exceed Walmart's sustainability expectations.

Mid-Size Supplier - Home Textiles
In 2010, SSC was engaged by a major importer of home textiles in the United States, for a two-year project that includes: a GHG inventory, water footprint, Chinese supplier evaluations, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) reporting, employee engagement, and sustainability reporting. As a Walmart supplier, the company seeks to exceed the requirements of the sustainability scorecard in the areas of energy and climate, material efficiency, nature and resources, and people and community. Mid-Size Supplier - Packaged Foods
In 2010, SSC was engaged by a manufacturer of packaged snack foods that supplies Walmart stores with more than three dozen different products. Our initial engagement was a kickoff to their corporate headquarters to help executives understand Walmart expectations, how they currently stack up, and recommendations for better communicating their (already impressive) sustainability story. Next steps are still being determined, but we're already helping them complete their first Carbon Disclosure Project report! Full case study coming soon.
Large Supplier - Greeting Cards
In 2006 and 2007, SSC worked with American Greetings Corporation at its headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio. The company was examining its sustainability strategy in light of Walmart’s recent announcements concerning the greening of its supply chain. They were unsure about which direction to go—and not ready to commit significant resources (time or money) to a full engagement before better understanding its options.
