NEWS: Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) Masterclass Series Begins Online Next Week

New program equips internal sustainability champions with practical skills to develop a strategic sustainability plan and “go green”

Strategic Sustainability Consulting (SSC) will launch a highly interactive online series beginning July 6th that guides new CSOs, CSR Directors, Sustainability Program Managers, Environmental Managers and other executives in effectively implementing sustainability strategies within their organization.

The Chief Sustainability Officer Master Class Series is a 12-week web-based course that encompasses a variety of sustainability topics, plus professional assistance for the development of sustainability plans. Participants will begin by understanding their role as a CSO and then learn how to assess key impacts, conduct stakeholder analysis, set & measure goals, and fully integrate sustainability into the core of their business.

The CSO Master Class can help managers move from the conceptual base of sustainability to the operational practice as it progresses from the core curriculum of goal setting, impact assessment and employee engagement into specializations such as energy and waste audits, greening office and travel, developing eco-purchasing systems and writing sustainability reports.

The main instructor of the course is Jennifer Woofer, president of Strategic Sustainability Consulting, who draws upon a decade of expertise in the fields of CSR, ethical investing, organizational accountability systems and sustainability assessments & planning.

We see more and more companies identifying internal green champions to lead their sustainability efforts. These personnel often have enthusiasm and basic knowledge of what it takes to “go green”, but lack the strategic framework to make sustainability a true driver of business success.

Affirms Jennifer Woofter.

Our CSO Masterclass series is specifically designed to guide new CSOs through the process of identifying strategic and practical ways to tie sustainability to reduced energy costs, happier and more productive employees, new product innovation, and better stakeholder relationships. We give participants the framework they need to tie “going green” to their organization’s bottom line

Sessions run for a total of 12 weeks, beginning July 6, 2009 and are held entirely online. The cost for the entire course is $2,500, and participants receive a certificate of completion upon successful conclusion of the coursework and development of a sustainability plan.
