Whether you are on the hunt for an energy-saving hotel, a green travel destination or advice on how to vacation sustainably, the web has all the information you need. Traveling the Green Way just published a list of 15 eco-travel web resources that will help you plan your get-away, without the guilty conscience.

  1. Off the Radar - Online magazine and newsletter for adventure travellers, focusing on independent travel, personal travel stories and experiences and sustainable, environmentally sensitive, travel.
  2. Manaca - In-depth eco-ratings of all sorts of green places and eco-lodging.
  3. Center for Sustainable Travel Destinations - a project of the National Geographic Society that covers places, news, tips, and events in green travel.
  4. The International Ecotourism Society – A non-profit organization dedicated to promoting ecotourism. TIES is committed to helping organizations, communities and individuals promote and practice the principles of ecotourism.
  5. Green Globe - Green lodging certification that’s accepted worldwide and looks at a ton of criteria before approving a lodging choice.
  6. Kimpton Hotel - offers an EarthCare Program in all of their one-of-a-kind hotels in major destinations across North America. Makes it easy to stay green.
  7. Backroads: Green Family Trip Advisor - Backroads operates tours with a sustainable focus and offers plenty of family options too.
  8. World Wildlife Fund - Offers many travel options that incorporate nature and sustainability, for a reasonable cost.
  9. Vail Resorts - Operates some of the most eco-savvy ski resorts around; i.e. wind power, LEED, organic foods, donations to the National Forest Foundation and more.
  10. Sustainable Travel International - Another non-profit organization, dedicated to educating both the travellers and the industry about sustainable practices.
  11. Oceanic Society Expeditions - Explore the Natural World - Not just ocean based trips; here you can learn about all sorts of amazing natural history journeys or even participate in research expeditions.
  12. Golf and the Environment - If golf is your idea of an ideal vacation, but you’d like to keep your green ethics in check while you play, this site is a must visit.
  13. Organic Holidays - Find smaller hotels, B&Bs, and other lodging where organic food is the rule rather than the exception.
  14. Better World Club - Offers many travel services that have a green slant (trip planning, offsets, etc.). Also, they donate 1% of their annual revenues to environmental cleanup and advocacy activities.
  15. AAA - This travel standard recently went somewhat greener and now offers lodging ratings that reflect more green options.
