The annual Sustainability Consulting “State of the Industry” Survey is now open! This is our 3rd annual survey and we are excited to keep the findings growing. The more consistently we are able to do this each year the more we can hone in on trends and projections, all thanks to our active consultants’ participation!
Ever ask yourself how much the average sustainability consultant brings in or what the top skill sets are these days? Each year we take the pulse on what it means to be in sustainability consulting today with our State of the Industry Survey. We’ve created a short 15 question survey for *current* sustainability consultants. (If you aren't currently practicing, please skip the survey.) The questions cover salary trends, growth areas, client expectations, and more. It’s completely anonymous and your information will not be shared with anyone else.

This 4 part series will delve into the sections of the survey that really paint the bigger picture for all of us and reference some of the 2010 findings as an example. Last year we had a 98% completion rate … see, it’s easy and the results are invaluable: providing industry insights you can use to prepare for next year! It’s an important time to take the sustainability consulting pulse so please make sure to participate before the survey closes on November 9th, 2011.
The majority of respondents expected to earn more from sustainability in 2011 than they did in 2010, so it will be interesting to see what the 2011 survey shows now that we are here! We also can’t wait to compare 2011 findings against our general findings that explore areas like how many people work full time in your sustainability consulting organization, your sustainability consulting firm’s expected total gross revenue, how many clients your entire sustainability consulting organization worked with, and the average cost of hiring your organization for a project.
